Empire State Building the 7th tallest building in New York. Its art deco design became known far and wide and this is the most recognizable skyscraper in the world. That is why it is no wonder that this building is the most desirable view for any engagement held in New York.
When you plan to propose on the Empire State Building here are the main things you need to know:
- Empire State Building is a public venue, so be prepared to deal with the crowd. You can not decorate or block the area as the space is very narrow.
- It might take some time to get to the top, so consider buying the express tickets.
- There is a metal detector there, so make sure you put the ring in the jacket and put it on the belt when you pass security.
- In order to avoid the crowds consider coming here either very early or before closing, which is 2 am.
- No professional photography is allowed, meaning your photographer must be discrete and not using any tripods.
- When you get on the knee, there is not so much of the view as the fence is very high. So you propose next to the wall.
As you see, we will not recommend getting engaged at the Empire State Building, unless this place is important for you or you love the movie ‘Sleepless in Seattle’.
- Private rooftop
Consider getting engaged on a private rooftop with the view of the iconic building. We have more than 10 different rooftops in the city with the best view of the Empire State. It is all private venues, so you can decorate the space and make the engagement romantic and private. Also, you can easily have a secret photographer and videographer to capture the moment and take as many pictures as you want.
- Propose in Dumbo, Brooklyn
This waterfront is famous for its stunning views. Only from this location, you can have a Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline in one shot. We love organizing candlelight proposals in this area as the night time views are amazing here. This area has lots of trendy restaurants and bars and one of the oldest pizza places in Brooklyn.
- Gantry Plaza State Park
Another hidden gem of the city, this park is absolutely stunning. Unlike the Dumbo waterfront, this park is less crowded, so you will have more privacy here. This is a wonderful place to go if you want the Empire State Building and a lot of the midtown skyline to be incorporated in your shots. Also, one of the best places to view the sunset.
- Top of the Rock
Another observation deck with 2 different levels. Unlike the Empire State Building view observation deck, this one has the view of the Empire State Building, so when you propose, you can have it in your shots. Also, this deck has a glass fence, which makes it ideal for the pictures. But again, there are lots of people around and no privacy. Make sure you have our paparazzi-style photographer on-site as pictures are always breathtaking here.
- Transmitters Park
This is a park known only to the locals as it is located far off the tourist paths. The best way to get here will be by the water taxi, which by itself is a very thrilling experience. This park is ideal for a romantic picnic proposal. Not that many people, so you will have lots of privacy. Also, the area is known for its hype bars and restaurants.
