Very often when our clients are looking for a proposal idea we asked them a question “what is your couple’s style?”. The answer gives us a better understanding of the couple and what they might like.
For example, we had a client who told us right away that he and his girlfriend loves to “dress to impress”, it was their style to dress up nicely and explore the Michelline restaurants around the city. So we knew right away, that a simple picnic in the park won’t work for them. A private room with exclusive decorations in the chic restaurant sounds more like them.
Another example is this sweet couple who recently got engaged in Central Park. Their thing was fountains. They had a first date by the fountain, every city they ever visit together they always throw a coin to the local fountain, so it was obvious that we had to come up with the idea that includes fountains in it. So we set up a huge explosive box by the Bethesda Fountain with a note saying ” Rachel, this is for you”. When the couple was passing by they saw a box as it was hard to miss, and of course, come by to see what’s there. Rachel saw a note and opened the box. As soon as the ribbon got loose a bunch of ” Will you marry me?” balloons float up and there was a coin with “Say YES” written on the side. David got on one knee and asked Rachel to be his wife. She said “YES” and they throw the coin in the fountain.
Sometimes it can be a color. Maybe red is your partner’s favorite color, so you can build your proposal around it. Set up red decorations with the red “Marry ME” sign and family wearing a piece of red and you got an absolutely perfect engagement.
We would recommend defining that one characteristic of your couple’s style and work with it. It will help to make a proposal more personal and show your partner that you really know them.
