Matt and Amy came from Toronto for a Christmas vacation in New York. Amy works in insurance and Matt work in emergency services. The two met in Toronto, when Amy was on internship during her degree. “We had our first date at a cocktail bar in Toronto. We shared a mushroom bruschetta and each had a whisky cocktail. I was trying very hard not to let her know how much I liked her already. I can’t remember how I felt, but Amy always says she knew very quickly that we were meant for each other and would get married one day. I’m not sure why Amy is into me to be honest : ) But I know that in her I love most her loyalty, value placed on family, sense of humor, and a million other things,” Matt says.
After dating for more than 5 years Matt decided to pop the question.
“We went to New York City (Amy’s first trip there) and did all kinds of fun tourist things at Christmas of 2015. We saw the Rockettes, took a cruise, and visited Ground Zero. I proposed at 2PM on December 19th, 2015 at the Rink at the Rockefeller Centre in New York, NY.
Amy was very surprised and was laughing out loud when I asked the question. When I was on one knee she actually took the ring from me and put it on herself! She is embarrassed by this but I find it quite funny,” Matt recalled.
After Amy said ‘Yes’ our photographer Vlad Leto joined the couple for the photo session. “Afterwards we met with Vlad, who had been photographing the whole proposal. He took us to Central Park where he knew all kinds of great spots for photos. We had a blast hamming it up for the camera for an hour. Afterwards we returned to the restaurant at the Rink for a glass of Champagne. We were supposed to go to the cafe but the restaurant was very accommodating and took great care of us.”
New York City is always a wonderful place to propose, but it is extremely romantic and joyful during the holiday season. If you planning to propose in New York make sure you contact Proposal 007 and Vlad Leto for the great secret photography and stress free planning.
“Thanks again Vlad, you were great and the photos came out amazing. We used them in our Save the Dates. Amy was over the moon excited, and I was feeling mostly relief that the secret plan had gone off without a hitch. I knew already she would say yes, but I wanted very much for it to be a surprise for her”
Congratulations Matt and Amy on your proposal!
