It is the first memorial dedicated to the former President in his home state and a New York State Park. This park is a real hidden gem of the city, its is off the tourist path and perfect for the intimate proposals.
To get to the Roosevelt Island you will need to use a tramway car, which is an adventure of its own. The island has an amazing views to the Long Islnad City, Midtown Manhattan, Brooklyn Bridge and Queens.
We would recommend to propose by the very end of the park with the water view, or by the lighthouse. Blackwell Island Lighthouse, which is also known as Welfare Island Lighthouse and Roosevelt Island Lighthouse is a stone lighthouse built by New York City in 1872. It is at the northeast tip of Roosevelt Island in the East River in Lighthouse Park.
