How we met

So it’s kind of funny, a little over two years ago Jaimin added me on Instagram and insisted that I popped up in his “suggested friends.” Shortly after, he started messaging me and I thought it was cute. I paid him no mind and our conversations were slightly dry at first. He was persistent and we would message each other back and forth. After a couple of weeks of talking we came to the point of having genuine conversations and decided to meet.

We decided to have our first date at Stuff Yer Face, a college bar in New Brunswick. A few drinks in we realized we were complete opposites, but we couldn’t stop talking. We ended up being the last ones to leave the bar. That one date somehow turned into us talking nonstop and meeting up every chance we got.  I fell for him shortly after the night he called me outside my house and we sat in his car talking and listening to music until sunrise.

This couple met on Instagram and now they are opening a non-profit organization for rescued animals.

How he proposed

Few weeks before the proposal I would try to throw questions and hints about when we would be taking the step further and he would push them off, making it seem like it would be years before we take that step. Not knowing, he was working with our friends and family all along to make this day perfect for us. We had planned to spend that day in the city as a relaxing staycation. We went to brunch and afterwards we had checked into the hotel. As we got into the room he said he had to use the bathroom. He was in there for 30 minutes, which is usual (lol). He told me afterwards he was just trying to stall since we were ahead of his schedule since brunch had ended early. He finally got out and we headed into the Central Park. I thought he was acting weird because he was walking super slow and texting on his phone, but then again this was typical so I brushed it off. I suggested once we entered the park that we turn left but he said no let’s go right and I followed, not thinking anything of it. As we were walking I noticed someone singing and flowers set up and joked about someone proposing. As we were passing by  he pulled me and started walking closer to the center of the setup and my heart dropped. I started shaking, questioning if this is real since  he likes to joke around a lot. I kept asking “is this really happening?” I was in denial and shaking as he’s trying to hold me together. Then he gets down on his knee and finally asks me if I would want to spend the rest of our lives together and I said yes!

Although we may be complete opposites when it comes to 9 out of 10 things, the one thing we adore in each other is our aspirations to help others. Jaimin has known since one of our very first conversations that I have a passion for helping others and animals; especially dogs. Not only did he surprise me with the proposal and the ring of my dreams, he also gave me paperwork to a non-profit organization he registered for us, so that we can make my passion into something even more.

Spring proposal ideas in New York 2026

Allow professionals to take care
of your proposal in New York

After the longest winter its is finally getting warmer in NYC and the prettiest season is right around the corner. We are so excited to start planning the cherry blossoms proposals in our beautiful city. Here are some new ideas on how to propose during this season:

1. Private rooftop with your personal silk cherry blossom tree

Cherry Blossoms in NY is one of the main tourist attractions for the spring season.  So, if you want to propose in the park with the cherry trees in your background, it would have to be around 7 am. We decided to offer this year this unique opportunity to propose in private on a rooftop with the silk cherry tree and then travel to the nearest park and continue the photo sessions there. In this case, you have privacy of the proposal moment and a beautiful photo session with the blossoms after.

2. Private penthouse with the spring arch decor

Spring in New York is very unpredictable, that is why we always recommend choosing a location with an indoor room and an outdoor terrace.  This private Penthouse would be an ideal spot for an intimate proposal in New York.  You can also customize the decorations for your liking. It can be a spring themed proposal decor or statement marquee letters. On the outdoor terrace, we can set up a table with champagne and a musician playing the romantic song of your choice. Ideal for sunset proposals. Our professional photographer will be there to capture the big surprise.

3. Mercer Labs digital screen proposal

Just imagine her surprise when you walk through the museum and all of a sudden one of the art installations displays a special message, just for her.  What feels like a casual date night at the museum, turns into a deeply personal and unforgettable moment. This is a perfect spring proposal idea as its still might be cold to propose outside, plus there will be no people around to interfere with your engagement. We would highly recommend adding a secret videographer to the package to capture the big surprise.

4.  Cherry blossoms at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Brooklyn Botanic Garden is known for its cherry blossoms. If you are looking for that soft pink background look for your engagement, this is the perfect place for you. Peak bloom is usually from late March to early April. And you need really think it through as its a very popular location, so early mornings during the weekdays are preferred. Brooklyn Botanic Garden doesn’t allow any decorations, performances or path blockage. This place is more about simplicity and natural beauty, rather than a big proposal production.

We love photographing the proposals at the Cherry Esplanade.  It has these iconic tunnel views, but  very crowded, especially on weekends. The Japanese Hill and Pond Garden is another great spot for a surprise proposal.

Keep in mind that you need a special photography permit from the garden to photograph the event. The permit needs to be approved ahead of time and its around $200

5. Private rooftop with cherry blossom decor

Privacy is a new luxury.  As much as we love natural parks, a private, quiet location would always be a priority choice. Just imagine bringing your partner to a private rooftop overlooking the iconic NYC skyline, thoughtfully decorated to match her taste. Elegant decor, soft colors, a live musician and just the two of you – a moment you want to remember forever. Our secret proposal photographer  captures it all discreetly from a distance,  as not to disturb your intimate moment. Give your partner a marriage proposal she is always dreamed of.

6. Custom  digital projections

Transform an  empty space into a fully customized, personalized marriage proposal experience.  Start from designing your own message.  Instead of generic “will you marry me”, create a deep, meaningful message for your partner.  Add your relationship timeline on the walls and walk her through your story. It feels exclusive, intentional, and completely different from a typical proposal.

Add real sand candles, live musicians, a secret proposal photographer and videographer to document the event.  At the end you can say “this was made just for us”

7.  Premium flower heart marriage proposal in Central Park

Central Park is an iconic location for surprise proposals in New York. It is beautiful year-around and we love creating surprise proposals in here. For the spring, private gazebo engagement would be a perfect choice.  This gazebo is off the walking paths, which brings privacy and serenity even when you are in the biggest park in the city.

For our premium flower heart proposal package, we  recommend scheduling in the morning or 2 hours before the sunset, when the light is soft and romantic. Our proposal photographer will be there to capture the big surprise.

After the proposal, you can take a walk through the park and continue with a natural engagement photoshoot, stopping at some of Central Park’s most beautiful spots along the way.

8. Times Square Billboard marriage proposal

This proposal is not for shy couples. Located in the heart of the busy city center, the Times Square Billboard proposal experience is made for big, bold declarations. No one ever expects to see a picture of themselves on a billboard and especially not in NY.

It’s bold, surreal, and completely unforgettable—a proposal that feels as big as the city around you. Our professional photo and video team will be there to document the whole surprise.

Spring naturally represents a new beginning and if you were planning a marriage proposal this year, it might be the right season to do so.  From colorful cherry blossoms to leasure strolls through the park, golden beach sunsets and private rooftops overlooking the Empire State Building, everything about this season feels made for the moment.

Be aware, that we need 21 day notice to get a permit for this location.

Private rooftop

To avoid the crowds, go with the private venue. It is a perfect choice for clients, who want to personalize and decorate the space the way they want to. Bold ‘ Marry Me’ letters, flower arches, custom floral decorations and close friends and family – thats what makes private rooftops so appealing. We have more than 10 different venues to choose from, located in the Midtown area, Soho and Dumbo. Surprise your partner with the marriage proposal of her dreams.

Custom marriage proposal in New York

Allow professionals to take care
of your proposal in New York

Every relationship and love story is unique, and your proposal should be too. When you planning your once-in-a-lifetime event, think outside the box and current trends, bring your story into your proposal. We have seen it a million times – a heart arch with ‘ will you marry me?’ sign or bold ‘ marry me’ letters, and as some couples might really love these decor options, others might find it too cliche.

For clients, who are looking into more personal experience, we would recommend a custom proposal planning.  These types of proposals would require 2-3 months in preparation, so plan in advance. Here, you are the main creator, as no one knows your partner as close as you are.

The main questions you need to ask yourself:

  1. What is so special about my partner that I want to marry them?
  2. What makes them happy?
  3. What ‘romantic’ means for them? What feels the most authentic for them?
  4. What kind of memories you want to create

The most important thing is not how much money you spend on a proposal or how big the decor is, but the sincerity. If your moment reflects who you are as a couple, it will always feel perfect.

How to start planning your proposal?

First, give yourself some time. Start planning early in advance. Create an idea, get reference pictures, set a budget and contact a planner. The best thing you can do for yourself is to let a professional handle the preparation and logistics.  Be realistic and always keep your partner in mind. Would she mind other people around or prefer it to be in private? Did she ever mention to you that she wants her family to be there? Do you have a symbol or a tradition in your relationship that you can use?

Once you are in contact with the planner, set a date and start the process. It takes time to find a venue, create custom decor and florals, gather the family.  Create a perfect ‘ cover’ for your proposal and announce it to your partner. Your ‘company hit the annual sales goal and throwing an office party’  – sounds believable and you can set the exact date, so your partner can clear the schedule. Your ‘ friend grant you Broadway tickets and you need to pick them up before the show’ – perfect way to dress up and be on time. It should be an easy but believable cover with a fixed date/ time.  No private Beyonce concert please.

On the day of, make sure you are on time. Plan the day ahead of time, if you  are driving, check traffic and parking garages in advance. Just imagine, all this planning and you stuck in  traffic and missing your rental time. Play it natural, but have a timeline in mind.

And, of course, make arrangements for after the proposal celebration. Dinner reservation or a surprise party, it’s the perfect way to end an unforgettable day.

How to find the best planner?

The main thing to look for is their sincerity.  A good planner would not withhold the information, share their honest opinion ( that might not align with yours), refer to another planner or vendor, or share ways to cut  expenses. Also its always a good idea to check their website, Instagram and other social platforms, just to see if you like that person as a person ( since you are the one who will be working with them).  Ask in advance what are the business hours and if you can arrange a call, dont assume you can just call anytime ( as most of the proposals happen at very random times and you might distract them from work).

And the most important, dont assume your planner is your  best friend or a free therapist. Yes, you can call and ask questions, but remember that your planner’s role is to guide you through the process, not to manage your emotions, relationship doubts, or last-minute indecision. Respect their time and let them focus on their job – plan and execute the proposal.

Dont forget to hire a professional photographer to document the most important day in your life.
